28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robbie Alcatraz! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Taylor ! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alcatraz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Taylor looks to throw the jab but Alcatraz is out of range. We've been told by Alcatraz's head coaches at Fighting Fitness & Freedom that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Taylor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alcatraz manages to avoid it. Alcatraz throws a shot from downtown. Taylor moves away and avoids it. Alcatraz throws a body punch but Taylor moves out of range. Taylor catches Alcatraz with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! A looping hook to the body misses from Alcatraz. Taylor does a little dance to reset his feet. Robbie Alcatraz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alcatraz staying out of range there. Taylor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alcatraz. Alcatraz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Taylor shoots in and drives through. Alcatraz sprawls well. Taylor works over Alcatraz's head and body with a nice combination. Taylor takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Taylor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alcatraz swivels and escapes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Taylor blocks a jab. Alcatraz throws the kick towards the body but Taylor avoids it. Alcatraz misses the jab. Taylor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alcatraz is fending him off so far but Taylor persists. Nope, Alcatraz circles away and we're back to standing. Robbie Alcatraz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Taylor . Alcatraz swings for the body but Taylor moves out of range.
Alcatraz throws a nice inside leg kick. Alcatraz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taylor moves away. Alcatraz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Taylor .
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor swings for the body but Alcatraz moves out of range.
Alcatraz jabbing away but nothing is landing. Taylor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Robbie Alcatraz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Taylor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alcatraz circles away. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Taylor waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Alcatraz. Taylor is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alcatraz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Alcatraz catches Taylor with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Taylor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Alcatraz works the jab nicely. Alcatraz fails to land with a series of punches.

Taylor shoots in and bounces Alcatraz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Taylor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Taylor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alcatraz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Taylor defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Alcatraz has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Taylor manages to get his head free but now Alcatraz has transitioned to an armbar! Taylor grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Alcatraz! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Robbie Alcatraz! Robbie Alcatraz retains his welterweight title! After winning the bout, Robbie Alcatraz thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
