PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jean Caisse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stone Mountain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Caisse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stone Mountain!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mountain dives in and grabs Caisse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Caisse pushes down on Mountain's head and hops out.

Caisse rushes Mountain and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mountain goes for a takedown in the clinch but Caisse prevents it.
Mountain has Caisse pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Caisse manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Jean Caisse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stone Mountain.
Mountain is trying to drag Caisse to the mat but Caisse just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mountain has Caisse pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mountain pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Caisse tumbling to the mat - Mountain dives into Caisse's guard.
Mountain postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mountain throws a strike but Caisse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Caisse works over Mountain with some ground and pound from guard.
Caisse throws a big elbow that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Caisse accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mountain managing to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Caisse throwing strikes from guard but Mountain blocks nicely.
Mountain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mountain thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Caisse's head.
Mountain landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mountain missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Caisse is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Always Clean Double Elite, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Mountain is trying to control the action in half guard but Caisse is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mountain looks to land a strike but Caisse avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Caisse working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mountain.
Caisse keeping moving, preventing Mountain from controlling successfully.
Caisse has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mountain with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caisse keeping moving, preventing Mountain from controlling successfully.
Mountain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mountain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Caisse swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mountain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Caisse works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Caisse has Mountain up against the cage in a clinch.
Caisse using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mountain has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Mountain is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Caisse breaks the clinch.
Caisse fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mountain ducks under a wild hook from Caisse.
Caisse misses the shot to the body.

Caisse drives through and clinches with Mountain against the cage.
Mountain is looking to take this one to the mat.
Mountain changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Caisse fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mountain fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A slow jab from Caisse misses its intended target.

Nice combo by Caisse! Oh, that's hurt him - Mountain falls to the canvas and Caisse follows him into side control.


Mountain is rocked!


It looks like Stone Mountain has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mountain gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mountain is trying to maintain the position but Caisse is very close to passing his half guard.
Mountain controlling the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mountain is looking to control Caisse's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mountain avoid being mounted?
Caisse throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Caisse wants to free his trapped foot but Mountain is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Caisse throwing shots but Mountain is blocking nicely.
Mountain makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mountain.
Caisse wants to control from the top but Mountain keeps moving.
Mountain wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Caisse dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Stone Mountain's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Caisse closes the distance looking to clinch

and Mountain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Caisse won't be happy with that.
Caisse tries to buck Mountain off but Mountain is having none of it.
Caisse wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
A lull in the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mountain misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Caisse can't do much from the bottom here.
Mountain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Caisse keeps working.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mountain takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Caisse throws a left that rocks Mountain and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Caisse dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Mountain regain composure!
Mountain is still in real trouble! Can Caisse finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Caisse lands a strong strike to the head of Mountain. That's dazed him! Caisse looking to finish here. Mountain is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Caisse lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Caisse!
Jean Caisse tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
