Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viktor Karavayev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Curt Champion! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Champion fails to land the takedown. Champion connects with the punch. Karavayev gets a double leg takedown into Champion's guard. Karavayev could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Karavayev wants to control from the top but Champion keeps moving. Champion wants to sweep but no luck. Champion preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Karavayev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Champion is trying to control the position but Karavayev postures up. Karavayev stopping the sweep attempt from Champion. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karavayev is in close to Champion's body, working some short punches and elbows. Champion working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Karavayev. Karavayev postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Karavayev trying to control but Champion is working from the bottom.

Karavayev keeping hold of Champion's head, controlling as best he can. Karavayev wants to get back to his feet. Champion is looking to advance position but Karavayev won't allow it. Karavayev is looking for a sweep. Champion is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Karavayev is pressing down on Champion's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Champion utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Champion wants to hit a switch here but Karavayev passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Champion there! Karavayev unloading with bombs! Karavayev scoring with strikes but Champion is staying in there. Champion is looking to get to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Karavayev landing punches. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Champion shoots in and drives through. Karavayev sprawls well. Champion is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Karavayev's half guard. Champion trying to control the action but Karavayev is working from the bottom. Champion is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

No, Karavayev has managed to get both his arms back between Champion's legs - danger averted. Champion takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Karavayev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

No damage this time. Karavayev stands up over Champion, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Karavayev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Karavayev with a nice head shot there. Karavayev working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Champion is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karavayev trying to control but Champion is working from the bottom.
