Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gorden! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Valderena! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Gorden with that takedown attempt. Gorden lands a nice shot that snaps Valderena's head back.
We've been informed that Valderena has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Valderena misses the shot to the body. Gorden shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gorden is trying to control the action in half guard but Valderena is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gorden is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A big right from Gorden misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Valderena! But no joy. Gorden dives in for a single leg takedown but Valderena sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Valderena shoots in and drives through. Gorden sprawls well. Gorden closes the distance and clinches. Valderena lands a takedown into guard.

Gorden looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Valderena throws an overhand right that lands on Gorden's shoulder, as Gorden tries to avoid the shot. Gorden bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Valderena's head backwards. Gorden lands with an uppercut that bounces Valderena off the cage and back into range. Valderena shoots in but no luck this time. Valderena blocks a jab. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Valderena! But no joy. Gorden fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gorden wants to clinch. Valderena tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Gorden fails in his attempt to clinch. Valderena misses with a leg kick enabling Gorden to counter with a crisp jab. Jeff Gorden is winning the standup battle so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gorden jabs Valderena right on the nose. Valderena blinks but takes it well. Gorden is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Valderena can do to turn this around? Valderena displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gorden throws out the jab. Valderena feints the counter takedown. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Gorden here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Horrible takedown attempt by Valderena or perhaps it was just good defense by Gorden, which made it look bad. Jeff Gorden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugo Valderena. Valderena takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jeff Gorden dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gorden swings away with a leg kick that misses. Valderena changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Valderena misses with a looping right. Valderena takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Jeff Gorden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gorden stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A jab from Valderena finds it's way through Gorden's defenses. A lazy left from Valderena finds it's target. Gorden turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Valderena uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gorden.
Gorden throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Valderena lands with an overhand left. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gorden cracks Valderena with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Gorden steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Valderena.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valderena throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gorden sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gorden getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Gorden pushes Valderena up against the cage in a clinch. A hook to the body from Gorden.

And Valderena tries to counter it with a takedown but Gorden pushes his down on his head and steps out. Valderena misses with a straight left. Valderena lands the left hand. Valderena fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gorden, as that shot connected.
This has been an exciting period of action! Valderena shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Valderena is trying to control. Gorden wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Valderena might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gorden haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Gorden preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gorden holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gorden has a takedown stuffed. Valderena moves out of range of the body kick. Valderena lands a head kick!

A close third round but Hugo Valderena just about did enough to take it. That's time! Gorden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Valderena breaks from Gorden's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Valderena. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! BOOM! Valderena connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Gorden is rocked! Valderena postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Gorden badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Valderena around the waist but Valderena pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Valderena is the winner by TKO! Valderena jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
