The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plouman checks the leg kick nicely there.
Plouman attempts a counter takedown but Japan avoids it well and moves away.
Plouman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Japan's waist but Japan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Plouman off to one side.
Japan flicks out a counter leg kick but Plouman steps away.
Japan buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Plouman shoots in and gets a takedown into Japan's guard.

Plouman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Plouman is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Japan looks calm but he's in trouble here. Plouman gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Japan is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Plouman lets go of the hold and Japan can pop his arm back in it's socket.
