PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luis Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacare Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jacare Romero was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacare Romero!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Romero. No joy for Cruz on that attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Cruz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Romero shoots in looking for a takedown. Cruz tries to sprawl out of it but Romero keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cruz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cruz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Romero is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Cruz rolls with it to try and escape but Romero cranks on the arm and Cruz is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

In his post fight interview, Jacare Romero started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
