Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brent Schultz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chinese Ghost! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Ghost as Schultz shoots in. Ghost lands with a nice combination. Schultz backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Brent Schultz has been cut. Schultz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ghost changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schultz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Schultz struggling a bit here. Ghost is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Schultz has escaped the position, nice work there. Ghost throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Ghost with the ground and pound but Schultz regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Ghost throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Schultz to regain full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ghost slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Schultz wants to stand up but Ghost is controlling him. Ghost trying to control but Schultz is working from the bottom. Ghost content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ghost stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schultz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Schultz pulls Ghost in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ghost is looking to score with low kicks. It looked like Schultz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Schultz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ghost circles away. Ghost doesn't manage to clinch there - Schultz circles away.
Schultz pushes Ghost up against the cage in a clinch. Ghost pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ghost scores with a hook to the body. Schultz takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ghost tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Schultz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ghost won't be happy with that. Ghost tries to bench press Schultz off him but Schultz keeps the position. Ghost keeps trying to improve his position. Ghost pushes Schultz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Schultz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Ghost regains half guard. Schultz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Ghost is trying to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ghost regains full guard. Nicely done. Schultz preventing the sweep. Ghost controls Schultz momentarily but Schultz frees himself. Ghost is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Schultz is controlling him. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ghost is looking for a triangle but Schultz pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Schultz distracts Ghost with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chinese Ghost dominated that round. The cut man is working on Brent Schultz's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Ghost fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Schultz to the ground. Ghost is now in Schultz's guard. Schultz keeping moving, preventing Ghost from controlling successfully. Schultz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ghost is controlling him. Schultz pulls Ghost in close to prevent any damage. Ghost is looking to stand up but Schultz won't let him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schultz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Ghost looking to sit in guard and control but Schultz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Schultz landing some decent shots from guard. Schultz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schultz stopping the sweep attempt from Ghost. Schultz cracks Ghost with a solid left hand. Ghost throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Schultz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Schultz trying to control but Ghost is working from the bottom. Schultz distracts Ghost with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ghost manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schultz manages to get himself to full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Schultz holds on and takes a little breather. Ghost is looking to work some ground and pound but Schultz has wrist control. Ghost trying to control but Schultz is working from the bottom. Ghost pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Schultz is keeping the position for now. Ghost sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schultz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ghost fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schultz sprawls well initially but Ghost persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Schultz is trying to stand.
Schultz tries to get to full guard but Ghost has control of the leg. Ghost is trying to control. Schultz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Schultz is looking to control Ghost's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Schultz avoid being mounted? Schultz looking for submissions off his back. Ghost has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Well, if Ghost is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ghost wants to pass to mount but Schultz is defending the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ghost gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ghost throws a wild body kick that Schultz sees coming a mile off. Schultz dodges the punch combination from Ghost.
Ghost bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Ghost fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Schultz is trying to control Ghost's posture but Ghost avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ghost is looking to take a break and control but Schultz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schultz manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Schultz holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Ghost tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Schultz. Schultz is trying to maintain the position but Ghost is very close to passing his half guard. Ghost slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ghost lands a jab to Schultz's midsection.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Schultz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ghost tries to avoid it but Schultz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ghost to the ground. Ghost escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ghost wants to counter with a clinch but Schultz pushes him away. Ghost avoids the head kick by Schultz.
Ghost closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Schultz is trying to stand up here but Ghost is controlling him well. Ghost seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schultz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ghost working Schultz over with strikes. Ghost thows a huge punch but Schultz dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schultz is in trouble now - Ghost has advanced to mount! Ghost is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Schultz tries to get back to half guard but can't. Schultz tries to hold on but Ghost postures up. Ghost looking to control but Schultz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ghost is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Schultz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Ghost takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schultz wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Schultz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Schultz can't escape the position.
Ghost avoids the attempt from Schultz to control. Schultz flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Brent Schultz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chinese Ghost is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ghost trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Chinese Ghost comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ghost has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
