Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Hawke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Orton! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ron Honeybunn and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Orton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Orton lands in his opponent's guard. Hawke really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Orton drops back looking for a leg! Hawke is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hawke manages to kick Orton off! Orton jumps back into Hawke's guard. Orton wants to pass the guard but Hawke is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hawke looking to control.
Hawke wants to sweep but no luck. Hawke throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Orton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hawke is looking to stand up but Orton isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hawke. Orton moves into the clinch successfully.

Orton tries to pull guard but Hawke won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hawke keeps control of Orton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Orton wants a takedown.
Hawke gets control of Orton's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hawke will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Orton wants to control from the top but Hawke keeps moving. Hawke is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Orton passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sloppy strikes there by Orton.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawke is trying to control Orton's posture but Orton avoids it. Hawke is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Hawke is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Orton decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hawke to his feet. Hawke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Orton paws at him with a jab and circles away. Orton fails with a takedown attempt. James Hawke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Orton. Orton drives through with a takedown into Hawke's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Orton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Orton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hawke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Orton dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Orton pushes Hawke up against the cage in a clinch. Orton breaks from the clinch.

A good leg kick by Hawke. Orton dives in and grabs Hawke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawke pushes down on Orton's head and hops out. Orton rushes Hawke and presses him up against the cage. Hawke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hawke tries to clinch up and Orton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hawke thinking. Orton gets tackled into the cage by Hawke. Hawke maintains the clinch. Hawke manages to break the clinch.
Orton fails to land the takedown. James Hawke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Orton. Orton has a takedown stuffed. Hawke feinted with a counter takedown. Hawke throws a head kick but Orton moves out of range.
Orton shapes to counter with a head kick. Orton has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hawke. James Hawke is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hawke keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Orton is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawke shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Orton sprawls well. Orton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hawke gets slowly back to his feet. Hawke is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Hawke looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Orton fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hawke is out of range. Orton moves into range and clinches up with Hawke. Orton letting Hawke take a breather here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Orton is working for takedown but Hawke is calmly controlling the position for now. Orton pulls guard. Hawke got a little sloppy there for a moment and Orton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hawke has managed to get both his arms back between Orton's legs - danger averted. Hawke passes easily into side control. Nice work. Hawke decides to take the fight back to the feet. A leg kick checked by Hawke. Orton takes a kick to the side of the head. Hawke misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hawke darts in and clinches Orton up against the cage. Hawke jumps guard.
Orton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Orton avoids the head kick by Hawke.
Hawke forces Orton back against the cage and clinches. Orton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Orton gets a takedown into half guard. Hawke wants to control but Orton is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that James Hawke will probably get the nod. That's time! Hawke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

He's got his arms around Hawke's waist but Hawke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Orton off to one side. Hawke is looking to counter punch. Orton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Orton moves into the clinch. Hawke decides to pull guard. Orton controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Orton stopping the sweep attempt from Hawke. Hawke keeping moving, preventing Orton from controlling successfully. Hawke looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawke, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Orton is controlling him. Orton is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Orton trying to control the position from guard on top but Hawke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Orton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. As Orton looks to move away, Hawke throws a big counter combo bu Orton just gets out of the way. Orton takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A head kick misses from Hawke. Orton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hawke circles away. Orton shoots in for a double leg but Hawke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Orton closes the distance and pushes Hawke back into the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hawke breaks from the clinch.
Dan Orton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hawke wants to clinch. Orton has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hawke wants to break the clinch but can't.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hawke is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Orton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
