PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kshitij Singh Negi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baba comes to the cage accompanied by Heart of Courage . Kshitij Singh Negi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kshitij Singh Negi!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baba doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Singh Negi counters by clinching up.
Singh Negi blocks an uppercut.
Baba is trying to stall.
Singh Negi misses with an elbow over the top.
Baba managing to block the knees to the body from Singh Negi.
Singh Negi comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like George Baba has been cut.

Baba tightens his grip and picks Singh Negi up, before dumping him to the ground. Singh Negi manages to land in guard.
Baba trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Baba scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baba postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Singh Negi keeping moving, preventing Baba from controlling successfully.
Baba has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Baba stops Singh Negi from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Singh Negi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Singh Negi tries to clinch up but Baba circles away and keeps his distance.
Baba half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Singh Negi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Baba drops down looking for a counter takedown but Singh Negi sprawls and moves away.
Singh Negi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Singh Negi doesn't manage to clinch there - Baba circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Singh Negi wants to clinch.
Baba appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Baba changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Singh Negi tries to avoid it but Baba manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Singh Negi to the ground. Singh Negi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Baba shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Singh Negi's guard.
Baba working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Baba has gone for a leg lock! Singh Negi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Baba's guard.

Baba has Singh Negi pulled in close to control his posture.
Singh Negi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Baba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Singh Negi is one step ahead there.
Baba manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Singh Negi manages to get himself to full guard.

Singh Negi can't keep his opponent in guard - Baba advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Baba thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Singh Negi wants to get back to his feet.
Baba is looking to take a break and control but Singh Negi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Baba looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Singh Negi gets caught flat footed, as Baba shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Baba is looking to work some ground and pound but Singh Negi has wrist control.
Singh Negi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Baba throws a big right hand that misses.
Baba passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
George Baba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Singh Negi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Singh Negi is not content to let Baba control the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Baba lands a big shot there that rocks Singh Negi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Baba jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Singh Negi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Singh Negi and Baba has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Singh Negi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Baba.
Kshitij Singh Negi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Baba shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Singh Negi as he avoids it easily.

Baba drives through with a takedown into Singh Negi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Baba wants to control but Singh Negi is keeping him busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baba is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Singh Negi has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Singh Negi!

Baba is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Baba lands a nice short elbow.

Baba wants to control but Singh Negi is keeping him busy.
Kshitij Singh Negi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Baba is looking for a kimura but Singh Negi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Baba to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baba throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Singh Negi to regain full guard.
Singh Negi wants to stand and escape but Baba is having none of it.
Baba stays in close to Singh Negi's body and controls the position.

Baba is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Singh Negi is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Singh Negi has escaped and now he's on top!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

George Baba showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Baba, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
