PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Fynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Fynn!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson connects with a leg kick. Fynn looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fynn misses with the combination.
Fynn throws a right and a left that Simpson avoids nicely.
Fynn takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Simpson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Fynn clinches.
Simpson keeps control of Fynn as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Simpson breaks from the clinch.
Fynn tries a head kick but it misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Fynn has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Simpson swats away the attempt to clinch by Fynn.
Simpson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fynn.

We've been told by Simpson's head coaches at Roosters Coop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Simpson throws a nice looking combination but Fynn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Fynn has picked Simpson up - he's going for a ride! Fynn dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Fynn throws a strike but Simpson avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Fynn trying to control the position from guard on top but Simpson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Simpson keeping moving, preventing Fynn from controlling successfully.
Fynn throws a big right hand that misses.
Fynn looking to sit in guard and control but Simpson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Simpson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fynn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fynn has a closed guard, preventing Simpson from standing up.
Simpson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fynn looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simpson wants to stand but Fynn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Simpson stands and steps away. Fynn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fynn pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Simpson works over Fynn's head and body with a nice combination.

Simpson stalks Fynn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fynn's face. Fynn staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Ben Simpson has been cut.
Fynn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Simpson manages to avoid it.
Fynn dodges the punch combination from Simpson.

Fynn drives through and clinches with Simpson against the cage.
Fynn is looking to break free of the clinch but Simpson has double underhooks.

Simpson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fynn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simpson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nice jab there from Fynn.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ben Simpson will probably get the nod.

Fynn is trying to pull guard but Simpson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Simpson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fynn can do to turn this around?

Simpson has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Simpson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fynn momentarily.

Fynn cracks Simpson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


Simpson is rocked!
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Fynn moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Simpson! Fynn continues to tee off on Simpson, landing with a left and a right! Fynn connects with a right hand that leaves Simpson sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Fynn!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Bob Fynn!
A very excited looking Bob Fynn made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
