The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie gets a double leg takedown into Ways's guard.
Gracie is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Gracie forces his way into half guard.
Ways manages to get to full guard.
Gracie scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ways is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ways's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gracie postures up in Ways's guard and throws a big left but Ways blocks it.

Ways is trying to control the position but Gracie postures up.
Gracie lands a couple of elbows.
Ways will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ways wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it.

Gracie lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Gracie lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ways sees it coming and defends easily.
Gracie maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Ways could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Gracie has cracked it and Ways is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Gracie !

Lucia Gracie spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
