PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Yanagida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiro Fujimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fujimoto has chosen Do You Call My Name - Ra as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Yanagida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masahiro Fujimoto!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Yanagida.


It looks like Masahiro Fujimoto has been cut.
Yanagida blocks a head kick by Fujimoto.
Horrible takedown by Yanagida or perhaps it was just good defense by Fujimoto which made him look bad.

Fujimoto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fujimoto showed some decent athleticism there.
Fujimoto prevents Yanagida from improving his position.
Yanagida works his way to full guard. Good work.

Yanagida had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Fujimoto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Yanagida Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Fujimoto's back instead.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fujimoto breaks Yanagida's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Yanagida has his foot on Fujimoto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fujimoto works his way back into a safe position though.

Yanagida can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fujimoto controls the pace.

Yanagida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fujimoto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yanagida. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fujimoto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Yanagida is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Fujimoto throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Yanagida.

Fujimoto drops back looking for a leg! Yanagida is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yanagida manages to kick Fujimoto off! Fujimoto jumps back into Yanagida's guard.
Fujimoto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Yanagida has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fujimoto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Yanagida is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fujimoto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yanagida's guard.

Yanagida working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fujimoto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fujimoto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Yanagida utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fujimoto postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fujimoto is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Yanagida has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Fujimoto is looking to defend but Yanagida has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Fujimoto! Yanagida pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Fujimoto taps out and this one is all over!
