Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brenton Dorsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Meyers!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dorsey shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Meyers is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dorsey scores with a couple of nice shots.

Dorsey is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Meyers defends it well.
Meyers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyers trying to control but Dorsey postures up.
Meyers keeping hold of Dorsey's head, controlling as best he can.

Meyers pushes Dorsey off looking to stand but Dorsey dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dorsey tries a head kick but it misses.

Meyers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dorsey is trying to defend but Meyers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Meyers moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Dorsey.
Meyers wants to control but Dorsey is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Dorsey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dorsey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meyers on the ground.

Meyers manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dorsey manages to get himself to full guard.

Dorsey is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Meyers pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Meyers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Meyers lands in his opponent's guard.

Dorsey looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Meyers has picked Dorsey up and slammed him! Dorsey can't keep hold of the triangle and Meyers manages to pass to side control!

Meyers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dorsey tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Meyers cracks Dorsey with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dorsey throwing hammer fists to the chest of Meyers. What's that going to do exactly?
Brandon Meyers has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dorsey wants to control but Meyers is having none of it.

Dorsey has given up his back. Will we see Meyers going for some submissions?
Meyers controls the action.

Meyers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dorsey wants to control but Meyers is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Dorsey landing rabbit punches to the side of Meyers's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dorsey is looking for a sweep. Meyers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Meyers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dorsey is squirming around, avoiding Meyers's attempts to control the action.
Meyers is landing with some decent strikes but Dorsey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Dorsey stops Meyers from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
BOOM! Meyers connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Meyers breaks from Dorsey's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Dorsey is rocked!
Meyers is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Oh Dorsey is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Meyers is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dorsey has managed to escape the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Meyers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dorsey tries to control the position but Meyers now has his back.
Dorsey seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I really don't envy Dorsey right now.
