The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murchison shoots and misses
and DeGale counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Murchison swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Murchison lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like James DeGale has been cut.
Murchison tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but DeGale swivels and escapes.
DeGale lands a nice hook to Murchison's body. Murchison takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nice sprawl there from DeGale as Murchison shoots in.

Murchison shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DeGale but DeGale pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Murchison throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. DeGale tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Murchison is in DeGale's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if DeGale can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James DeGale dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James DeGale's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


DeGale fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
DeGale fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Murchison has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Murchison on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Murdo Murchison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice leg kick lands there from DeGale.
That kick from DeGale tenderised Murchison's leg. Murchison is trying to keep his angry face on.

DeGale sends Murchison crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! DeGale is motioning to the referee to let Murchison up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Oh Murchison is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
DeGale looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Murchison throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Murchison seems to have got his legs back now.

DeGale closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
DeGale scores with a knee to the head.
DeGale creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Murchison with a big uppercut! Murchison tries to clinch up but DeGale pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Murchison to the mat! Murchison covers up and DeGale unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). James DeGale!
After winning the bout, James DeGale thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
