Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Humberto Travis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Johnson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Travis shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Travis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Johnson unleashes a big counter combination but Travis bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Travis on that attempt. Travis dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Travis's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Humberto Travis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Travis. Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.
Travis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Johnson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Humberto Travis has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson throws a right and a left that Travis avoids nicely. Johnson throws a right hand that Travis ducks under and follows up with a left that Travis also avoids with ease. Johnson misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
Travis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side. Johnson throws a right and a left that Travis avoids nicely. A combination from Johnson does no damage. Johnson throws a series of strikes that have Travis backpedaling.

and Travis counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Johnson! Johnson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Travis asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Travis.
Johnson bucks up and tries to throw Travis off but instead Travis has got his back! Johnson wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Travis throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Travis is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Johnson taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Travis.
