The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Werdum tries to score a power double leg takedown but Zane sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Werdum somewhat.
Zane throws a series of punches but Werdum moves out of range.
Werdum shoots for a takedown but Zane saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Zane throws a left and a right that both miss

and Werdum counters with a single leg into guard. Zane didn't expect that.
Werdum showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Zane is trying to keep Werdum in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Werdum stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zane thuds a left hand into Werdum's body.
Zane catches Werdum with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Zane fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Werdum on the side of the head.
Zane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Werdum manages to avoid it.
Zane scores with the left hand. Werdum knows he should have avoided that one.

Zane keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Zane misses the shot to the body.
Zane thuds a left hand into Werdum's body.
Mike Zane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Werdum shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zane as he avoids it easily.
Zane is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Mike Zane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabiano Werdum.
Zane just misses with a punch to the body.
Zane throws a right and a left that both miss.
Werdum drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Zane defends it well.
Werdum dodges the punch combination from Zane.

Werdum has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.

and Werdum decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zane's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Werdum is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Zane is trying to control the position but Werdum postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Werdum is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Zane is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
