Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Loens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruslan Antonov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loens comes into the arena with Street Fighter 4 blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rudy Loens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Antonov! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Chris Dean and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Loens shoots in for a double leg but Antonov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Loens moves out of range of the body kick. Loens looks to land a combination but Antonov avoids it well. Antonov feints and then cracks Loens's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Loens down. Loens misses with a jab, cross combination.

Antonov throws a head kick that Loens semi-blocks.
Loens throws a series of punches but Antonov avoids them all with ease. Antonov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Loens.
Antonov throws a body punch but Loens moves out of range. Loens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Antonov wants to sweep but no luck. Antonov is working an open guard so Loens takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Loens takes the fight into the clinch. Loens jumps guard and drags Antonov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Antonov scoring with some ground and pound. Loens pushes Antonov off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Loens bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Antonov has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Loens is landing a low percentage of strikes. Nice sprawl there from Antonov as Loens shoots in. Antonov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Antonov's jab looks to have found its range, popping Loens under the eye. Antonov is looking to land body kicks. No luck with that takedown attempt from Loens. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudy Loens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Loens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Antonov as he jumps to the side. Loens shoots in for a takedown but Antonov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Antonov let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Antonov getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Loens darts in and clinches Antonov up against the cage. Antonov missing with knees to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Loens presses Antonov against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Loens wants to get back to striking at distance but Antonov won't allow it.

Antonov prevents Loens from breaking the clinch. Antonov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Loens wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Loens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A lazy left from Antonov finds it's target. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Antonov, right into the meat.
Antonov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Loens is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Antonov is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Loens tries to clinch up but Antonov circles away and keeps his distance. That's three minutes gone in the round. A chopping leg kick lands by Antonov. Loens doesn't manage to clinch there - Antonov circles away.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Loens takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Antonov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Loens moves away. Loens misses with a two punch combination.
Loens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Loens lands in his opponent's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Loens working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Loens wanted to stand there but Antonov had control of the position. Loens gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ruslan Antonov dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Loens has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Antonov. Loens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Antonov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Loens somewhat. Rudy Loens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Loens checks a leg kick nicely. Antonov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Loens throws a series of strikes that have Antonov backpedaling.

That's one minute gone in the round. Antonov clobbers Loens with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Loens rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Antonov moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Antonov scores with a nice right hand.
Antonov slaps away a takedown attempt from Loens, before circling back to the center of the mat. Antonov stuffs the takedown attempt from Loens. Loens gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudy Loens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Loens doesn't succeed with the takedown letting Antonov counter with a right hand. Antonov misses the jab. Loens will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Loens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Antonov avoids it really well and circles away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Loens looks to land a combination but Antonov avoids it well. Nice shot lands for Antonov.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Loens fails to land the takedown. That kick from Antonov tenderised Loens's leg. Loens is trying to keep his angry face on. Loens scores to the head and body with a nice combination! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Antonov lands with a right hand. Loens moves out of range of the body kick. Antonov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Loenss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Jab from Antonov. Loens on the wrong end of a nice hook. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Antonov - that will leave a mark!
Antonov has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Antonov lands with a nice body punch. Loens tries to close the distance and clinch but Antonov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Antonov scores with a push kick. Loens is looking to clinch. Antonov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Loens moves away. Ruslan Antonov seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Antonov scores with a punch to the head. Loens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Antonov but Antonov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Loens takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Loens shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Antonov eats them both and turns towards Loens to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Loens has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Antonov finds it's way round the side to connect with Loens's head. Antonov goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Antonov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Loens looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Antonov throws out a counter right but Loens avoids it with no problem. Loens tries to clinch there but Antonov circles away.
Loens forces Antonov back against the cage and clinches. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Loens tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Antonov's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Loens swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Loens blocks a body shot from Antonov. Loens has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Antonov after a bit of a struggle. Antonov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Loens.
Antonov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Antonov tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Loens avoids it. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Loens as Antonov tries to tie him up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ruslan Antonov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Loens decides to stand back up. Loens steps back and let's Antonov get back to his feet. Loens looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Antonov! Loens stands up. A punch combination from Loens misses. Antonov has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Antonov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Loens dives in and grabs Antonov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Antonov pushes down on Loens's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rudy Loens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Antonov fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Loens shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Loens working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Antonov's thigh. Antonov counters though and makes it back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Loens decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Antonov, up you get! Loens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Antonov makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Antonov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Antonov tries to land a body kick and Loens counters with a shoot takedown. Antonov fights it but they end up in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Loens chips away with some ground and pound. Antonov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Loens is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Antonov is trying to control the position but Loens postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Antonov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Loens stands and steps away. Antonov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Rudy Loens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Loens drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Rudy Loens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Loens landing some decent shots from guard. Ruslan Antonov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Antonov trying to keep a closed guard but Loens is proving a slippery customer.
