And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Erik Thorvaldson!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Thorvaldson finds it's way through Schopenhauer's defenses.
Schopenhauer closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Schopenhauer shoots in and gets a takedown into Thorvaldson's guard.
Schopenhauer slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Schopenhauer working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Schopenhauer is putting a hurting on Thorvaldson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Schopenhauer throws an elbow but Thorvaldson slips to the side and avoids it well.
Thorvaldson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Schopenhauer's best efforts.

Schopenhauer is trying to work for a kimura but Thorvaldson is defending well.
Thorvaldson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Schopenhauer is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thorvaldson defends it well.
Schopenhauer moves into full mount! Thorvaldson won't be happy about that!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Schopenhauer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Thorvaldson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Thorvaldson shrugs it off.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Schopenhauer cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Thorvaldson tries to hold on but Schopenhauer pushes him away.

Schopenhauer wants to finish this one by submission but Thorvaldson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Schopenhauer.
Schopenhauer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Schopenhauer looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Thorvaldson is working to get back to half guard.

Schopenhauer with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Schopenhauer looking to secure an arm triangle but Thorvaldson defends it well.

Schopenhauer has hold of Thorvaldson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thorvaldson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Thorvaldson is controlling an arm, preventing Schopenhauer from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Thorvaldson is wriggling around trying to escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thorvaldson trying to control the position but Schopenhauer manages to sink in the hooks.

Schopenhauer is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Thorvaldson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Thorvaldson is trying to break free.
Thorvaldson is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Schopenhauer off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Schopenhauer is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Thorvaldson with him. Thorvaldson is trying to defend but Schopenhauer has an arm under the chin now! Thorvaldson grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Arthur Schopenhauer!
