PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hilder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Speck Trum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Hilder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Speck Trum!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trum throws a hook but Hilder blocks it.
Trum stuffs the takedown attempt from Hilder. Hilder gets slowly back to his feet.
Trum ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hilder moves away.
Hilder dodges the punch combination from Trum.
Trum looks to score with a jab to the body but Hilder is just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trum takes a swing at Hilder's ribcage but misses.
Trum misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hilder.
Hilder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Trum pushes Hilder up against the cage in a clinch.

Trum has picked Hilder up - he's going for a ride! Trum dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Trum is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Hilder tries to reverse the position but Trum maintains control.
Trum looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Hilder is looking to get to half guard.

Trum looking to secure an arm triangle but Hilder defends it well.

Trum is working for a guillotine from mount but Hilder frees his head quite easily.

It looks like Justin Hilder has been cut.
Hilder is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hilder regains half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Trum is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hilder!
Trum landing strikes from the mount and Hilder is in trouble!
Trum can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hilder is looking to escape.
Hilder is breathing heavily.

Trum has hold of Hilder's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hilder manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Trum breaks from Hilder's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Trum looking to control but Hilder is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Trum is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hilder regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hilder keeping moving, preventing Trum from controlling successfully.

Trum slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Hilder looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Trum passes into side control.
Hilder tries to buck Trum off but Trum is having none of it.
Trum scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hilder to see if he's OK.

Trum is trying to get an arm triangle but Hilder is defending well.

Hilder shoots in and drives through. Trum sprawls well.
Trum will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trum throws a nice looking combination but Hilder bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Trum shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Hilder avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Trum closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Trum lands with a punch from half guard.
Trum wants to pass the guard but Hilder is defending well.

Trum lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hilder is staying active underneath Trum, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hilder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Trum looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Trum wants to work for an arm triangle but Hilder is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Speck Trum has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hilder wants to improve his position but Trum is controlling well.

Trum scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Hilder is looking for a sweep. Trum is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Trum is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hilder tries to get to full guard but Trum has control of the leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hilder on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Trum tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hilder swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Trum feints and then cracks Hilder's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hilder down.
Speck Trum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Trum gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Trum jumps guard and drags Hilder to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Trum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Trum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hilder with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Trum passes to full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Trum cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Speck Trum showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Trum tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hilder paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hilder fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trum sprawls well initially but Hilder persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Trum is looking for a sweep. Hilder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Trum manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Trum is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Trum escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hilder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hilder drops back looking for a leg! Trum is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Trum manages to kick Hilder off! Hilder jumps back into Trum's guard.

Trum is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Trum is trying to control the position but Hilder postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trum is on top in guard.
Hilder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Trum wants to control from the top but Hilder keeps moving.
Trum pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hilder is keeping the position for now.

Trum is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Trum won't allow Hilder to sweep him here.
Trum advances position into side control!
Hilder tries to improve position but can't.
Trum cracks Hilder with a big elbow.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Trum throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Trum tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Trum fails with an attempt to clinch.

No joy there for Trum, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Trum tries to clinch up but Hilder circles away and keeps his distance.
Trum misses with a body shot.
A slow jab from Trum misses its intended target.
Hilder keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hilder checks a leg kick nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Trum is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Speck Trum is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Trum lands with a shot to the body.
Good leg kick by Trum there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trum throws out a loose jab but Hilder uses good head movement to avoid it.
Justin Hilder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hilder avoids the head kick by Trum.

Speck Trum comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Trum has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
