3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jasper Daniel! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales lands a jab to the nose. Daniel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gonzales keeping full guard, as Daniel tries to pass. Gonzales looking to hit a scissor sweep but Daniel is one step ahead there. Daniel tries to free his leg and advance position but Gonzales is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniel with a flurry of punches that miss. Daniel trying to control the position from guard on top but Gonzales is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniel looking to pass the guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Daniel with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Daniel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Daniel shoots for a double leg takedown but Gonzales sprawls well. He's pushed Daniel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Daniel throws a body punch but Gonzales moves out of range. Gonzales throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Daniel drives through with a takedown into guard. Daniel wants to pass the guard but Gonzales is keeping the position. Daniel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gonzales will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Daniel tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzales swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gonzales lands an overhand right. Daniel goes for a double leg but Gonzales avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gonzales continues to drive forward. Gonzales ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Daniel moves away. Daniel shoots in looking for a takedown but Gonzales manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Daniel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Gonzales was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Ramon Gonzales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jasper Daniel. Daniel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Gonzales throwing a counter right hand but Daniel manages to avoid it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Daniel is controlling the pace.
