PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between rosco saucedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). saucedo comes into the arena with headstrong blaring out of the sound system. Santiago has chosen daylight slaving as his entrance music. David Santiago will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, rosco saucedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Santiago!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
saucedo looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Santiago tries to clinch up but saucedo circles away and keeps his distance.

Santiago fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. saucedo sprawls well initially but Santiago persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Santiago perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
saucedo is trying to get back to full guard.
Santiago slows the pace down in half guard.
Santiago's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santiago has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Santiago controlling his opponent.
Santiago cracks saucedo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Santiago stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Santiago closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Santiago lands in his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Santiago is stalling in the full guard.
Santiago slips nicely into half guard.
Santiago content to control rather than advance.

Despite being in the dominant position, David Santiago just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
saucedo swats away the attempt to clinch by Santiago.
Santiago throws a sloppy head kick and saucedo moves out of range easily.

Santiago pulls guard effortlessly.
Santiago wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Santiago looking for a guillotine here but saucedo defends easily.

Santiago working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. saucedo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. saucedo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
saucedo wants to stand but Santiago has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Santiago pulls saucedo in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Santiago dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Santiago throws a head kick that misses.

Santiago gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Santiago tightens his grip and picks saucedo up, before dumping him to the ground. saucedo manages to land in guard.
saucedo wants to get back to his feet but Santiago is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Santiago pushing down on saucedo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Santiago is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! saucedo is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Santiago!
