Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zach Belica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendal Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zach Belica! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kendal Thomas! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Belica. Thomas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Belica moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Belica dives in for a single leg takedown but Thomas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Thomas lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Kendal Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thomas swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Belica fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Belica misses with a jab to the body
and Thomas counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Belica throws a shot from downtown. Thomas moves away and avoids it. Belica throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thomas's waist but Thomas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belica off to one side. Thomas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This has been an exciting period of action! Thomas controlling the pace. Belica is staying active underneath Thomas, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Belica is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Belica is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thomas pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belica has one foot on Thomas's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Belica enables Thomas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Belica manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Thomas works a leg free and moves into half guard. Belica is looking to escape. Thomas is pressing down on Belica's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belica is holding on for now. Thomas drops an elbow to the side of Belica's head. Belica throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Belica keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thomas is pressing down on Belica's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belica is holding on for now. Belica kicks Thomas off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thomas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Thomas looks to land a combination. Belica sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Thomas moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Belica is rocked! We've been hearing reports that Belica has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Belica is breathing heavily. Thomas closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Belica out cold! Belica corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Kendal Thomas!
