PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Bosse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin has chosen Bodies Drowing Pool as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruno Bosse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Martin !
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bosse fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bosse rushes Martin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bosse keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Martin 's efforts to push away.
Martin is looking for a takedown.
Martin blocks an elbow strike.
Bosse lands a body punch in the clinch.
Martin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bosse after a bit of a struggle.
Martin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Martin working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bosse decides to pull guard.
Martin connects with a couple of short punches.

Bosse looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Martin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Bosse is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Martin won't allow Bosse to get back to his feet.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Martin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bosse momentarily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bosse moves out of range of the body kick.
Martin walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bosse checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Bosse walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bosse darts in trying to clinch
and Martin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bosse fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Martin tries a head kick but it misses.
Martin lands with a right hand.
Martin connects with a right hand. Bosse shakes it off.
Bosse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Martin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Martin - that will leave a mark!
Bosse stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bosse wants it to stay on the feet.
Bruno Bosse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Martin .
A head kick misses from Martin .

Bosse steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Martin .
Martin loads up on a big right hand but Bosse slips the punch.
Martin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Martin , right into the meat.

Martin drives through with a takedown into Bosse's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Martin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bosse throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Martin stands up over Bosse, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Bosse is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martin is controlling him.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Martin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Martin throws a strike but Bosse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Martin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Martin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bosse closes the distance and pushes Martin back into the cage.

Martin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Martin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Martin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Martin scoring well with a low kick there.
Bosse ducks under a wild hook from Martin .
As Martin tries to get set, Bosse tries to push him back and clinch up but Martin manages to avoid the attempt.
Bosse shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense.
Bosse avoids the body shot from Martin .
Bosse just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin scores with a decent looking hook.
Martin throws a body punch but Bosse moves out of range.
Martin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bosse is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Martin thuds his shin into the meat of Bosse's side.
Martin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

No luck for Bosse with that takedown attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Martin ! But no joy.
Martin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Martin throws a nice inside leg kick.
Martin misses with a wild body shot.
Bosse fails with an attempt to clinch.
Martin dips to his left and cracks Bosse with an uppercut!
Bosse fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Bosse. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bosse tries to clinch up but Martin circles away and keeps his distance.
Martin scores with a head kick. Bosse tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Martin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bosse to the mat! Bosse manages to get full guard.

Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Bosse is retaining full guard.
Martin is in close to Bosse's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bosse is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Martin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Martin wants to control from the top but Bosse keeps moving.
Bosse has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.

Martin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bosse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martin has managed to get both his arms back between Bosse's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Martin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Martin is in close to Bosse's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Martin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Martin working over Bosse with some ground and pound. Bosse looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Martin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bosse!

Martin breaks from Bosse's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Martin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bosse's face.
Bosse is bucking up trying to escape but Martin cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bosse sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Martin has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Bosse wants to hold on but Martin pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Martin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Martin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Martin moves into range and clinches up with Bosse.
A frustrated look appears on Martin 's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Bosse tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bosse tries to pull guard but Martin forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bosse.
Bosse is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Martin is keeping busy.
Martin wants to break the clinch but can't.

Martin manages to break the clinch.
Martin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Bosse.
Bosse on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Martin looks to land a combination but Bosse avoids it well.
Bosse showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Martin .
Bosse feinted with a counter takedown.
Martin misses with an attempted mid kick.
Bosse misses with a body kick.
Bosse shoots for a takedown but Martin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Martin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bosse sprawls well initially but Martin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martin connects with a nice short shot to Bosse's temple.
Bosse is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Martin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bosse with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Martin with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Frank Martin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Martin slips a nice elbow through Bosse's hands, connecting with Bosse's forehead.
Martin drops an elbow to the side of Bosse's head.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bosse keeps working.
Nice strikes from Martin there.
Martin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Martin lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Martin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Martin drops an elbow to the side of Bosse's head.
Martin is trying to control the action in half guard but Bosse is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Martin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Bruno Bosse has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Martin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

I've got Martin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
