Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vrando Vraganza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luan Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luan Alves will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vrando Vraganza! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luan Alves! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vraganza. It seemed like Alves was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Alves misses with a head kick.
Alves slaps away a takedown attempt from Vraganza, before circling back to the center of the mat. Alves is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Alves displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vraganza. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vrando Vraganza. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vraganza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A little jabbing left from Alves on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vraganza shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alves manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Vraganza won't allow Alves to get back to his feet. Vraganza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alves is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vraganza, into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves wanted to stand there but Vraganza had control of the position. Alves is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Vraganza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alves's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alves can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vraganza is looking to pass into half guard but Alves pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Alves is in guard. Alves wants to stand but Vraganza has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Vraganza manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alves manages to get himself to full guard.
Vraganza advances position into side control! Vraganza is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Vraganza tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves wants to get back to his feet but Vraganza is dominant here and he's now got Alves's back! Vraganza is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Alves won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Vraganza off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vrando Vraganza! Vrando Vraganza retains his lightweight title! Vrando Vraganza thanked the fans post fight for their support.
