PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between RP McMurphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Slevin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slevin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. timber kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, RP McMurphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Slevin!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slevin clinches.
Slevin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
McMurphy on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
McMurphy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Slevin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Slevin gets through McMurphy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
McMurphy blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Slevin softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Slevin has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Slevin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McMurphy.
McMurphy blocks an uppercut.
McMurphy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Slevin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for RP McMurphy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McMurphy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Slevin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McMurphy on the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slevin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McMurphy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Slevin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McMurphy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Slevin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McMurphy sees it coming and avoids it easily.

McMurphy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Slevin looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slevin tries to get to full guard but McMurphy has control of the leg.
McMurphy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McMurphy wants to pass the guard but Slevin is defending well.

Slevin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
McMurphy wants to free his trapped foot but Slevin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McMurphy is nestled in close to Slevin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
McMurphy slips a nice elbow through Slevin's hands, connecting with Slevin's forehead.
McMurphy looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Slevin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McMurphy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McMurphy's back!

Slevin is looking for the choke from the back position but McMurphy is controlling his hands well.

McMurphy rolls, trying to escape but Slevin keeps control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slevin working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Slevin has the hooks in. McMurphy is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Slevin doesn't have the hooks in and McMurphy manages to turn into his guard.
McMurphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Slevin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McMurphy cracks Slevin with a solid left hand.

McMurphy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slevin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McMurphy has managed to get both his arms back between Slevin's legs - danger averted.

Slevin is looking for a triangle here but McMurphy uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McMurphy passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Slevin!
Slevin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

McMurphy lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Slevin hang on?

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McMurphy tries to control but Slevin wriggling away.
Slevin working to try and regain half guard.
McMurphy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Slevin is wriggling around trying to escape.
McMurphy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Slevin is rocked!
McMurphy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Slevin is still in real trouble! Can McMurphy finish him?
McMurphy drops a big elbow. That's hurt Slevin! More shots from McMurphy and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). RP McMurphy!
As RP McMurphy got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Thank you everybody for coming. My opponent, hats off to you, thanks for the great fight, all respect. My coaches and Team Burns helped me so much, thank you. I will continue to shock and inspire nations'.
Tony Slevin was interviewed post fight and said 'ill be round your house later with the lads'.
