Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Steveson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramires rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steveson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Steveson tries to close the distance and clinch but Ramires swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ramires lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Steveson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Steveson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Steveson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ramires. Steveson shoots in for a takedown but Ramires shows good takedown defense. Steveson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ramires keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Steveson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ramires swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Steveson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ramires misses with a jab, cross combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steveson moves into the clinch successfully.

Steveson has hold of one of Ramires's legs. Ramires is fighting the takedown attempt but Steveson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steveson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steveson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Steveson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramires is retaining full guard. Steveson preventing the sweep. Steveson stands up and waves to Ramires to follow him. Steveson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Ramires scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Ramires throws a head kick that misses. Ramires rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steveson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ramires throws a push kick but Steveson slaps the foot to one side. No joy there for Ramires, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramires closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ramires wants to stand but Steveson has his arm trapped. Ramires tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Ramires laying and praying for a moment but Steveson takes advantage and regains half guard. Steveson wants to get back to his feet. Nice strikes from Ramires there. Ramires is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Steveson manages to get to full guard.
Steveson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramires wanted to stand there but Steveson had control of the position. Steveson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Steveson is breathing heavily. Ramires looking to sit in guard and control but Steveson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Steveson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramires is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Steveson gets to his feet. Ramires looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Ramires rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steveson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Joe Steveson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ramires throws a right and a left that both miss. Steveson doesn't manage to clinch there - Ramires circles away.
Ramires throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Steveson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ramires's head. Ramires misses with a jab, cross combination.
Steveson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ramires shoots in and bounces Steveson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Steveson has a closed guard, preventing Ramires from standing up. Steveson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mario Ramires will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Steveson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ramires cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Steveson wants to clinch. Ramires throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Steveson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ramires counters with a series of strikes. Steveson will be more careful next time no doubt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ramires. You can see the frustration on Steveson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ramires is working Steveson over with some ground and pound from side control. Steveson parries the strikes from Ramires easily there. Ramires is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Steveson to escape.
Steveson struggling a bit here. Ramires trying to control the action but Steveson is working from the bottom. Ramires working the ground and pound. Steveson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Steveson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramires wants to stand up but Steveson has a hold of him and won't allow it. Ramires working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ramires postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Steveson to stand up. Steveson waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Ramires. Steveson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Steveson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Steveson trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mario Ramires has got the better of the ground game so far. Ramires is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ramires is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steveson content just to control the position here. Ramires wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Steveson.
Ramires is looking to improve his position but Steveson isn't that keen on the idea. Steveson landing punches. Ramires wants to hold on but Steveson pushes him away. Ramires has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now. Steveson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Ramires working to try and regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ramires slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Steveson working over Ramires with some ground and pound. Ramires looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Ramires is refusing to be controlled, as Steveson sits in half guard. Ramires works his way to full guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ramires has his feet on Steveson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Ramires misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ramires throws a low kick but Steveson avoids it. Ramires tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Ramires showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Ramires lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steveson circles away quickly and effectively. Ramires goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Steveson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ramires swats him away and circles back towards the center. Steveson gets a takedown into half guard. Ramires avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Steveson. Steveson thows a huge punch but Ramires dodges it nicely.
Steveson is looking to take a break and control but Ramires is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Steveson misses with a takedown and Ramires counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ramires lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steveson circles away quickly and effectively. Ramires closes the distance and clinches up with Steveson, looking for a takedown. Ramires pushes Steveson against the cage but Steveson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Steveson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ramires counters with a single leg into guard. Steveson didn't expect that. Ramires slips nicely into half guard. Ramires scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Ramires with the ground and pound but Steveson uses the opportunity to regain guard. Ramires wants to stand but Steveson is controlling his posture from full guard. Ramires throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steveson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ramires has gone for a leg lock! Steveson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ramires's guard. Ramires can't keep his opponent in guard - Steveson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ramires throws a lazy right hand but Steveson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Steveson fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Steveson misses with a takedown attempt and Ramires counters with a series of strikes.
