Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mohamed Acevedo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christopher Columbus! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Acevedo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Columbus.
A big right from Columbus misses. Columbus darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Acevedo slips a straight right by Columbus. Columbus misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Acevedo.
Columbus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Acevedo was well out of range. Poor timing from Columbus. Acevedo attempts a counter takedown but Columbus avoids it well and moves away. Columbus tests Acevedo's chin there with a solid looking shot. A big right from Columbus misses. Acevedo appears to be looking for a big counter. Columbus throws out a loose jab but Acevedo uses good head movement to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Columbus looks to land a right hand but Acevedo moved out of range. Columbus punishes Acevedo's body with a nice straight punch. Columbus connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A decent looking cross lands there for Columbus.
That's one minute gone in the round. Columbus throws a jab but it's blocked by Acevedo. Acevedo appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Columbus misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Acevedo counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Acevedo manages to pull guard.
Acevedo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Columbus is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Acevedo has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Columbus is looking to defend but Acevedo has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Columbus! Acevedo pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Columbus taps out and this one is all over!
