Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Klay Montez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew West! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West lands a front kick. Andrew West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. West connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Montez's hands. West throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Montez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. West uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Montez.
Montez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Montez on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Montez ducks right into an uppercut from West. West throws a body punch but Montez moves out of range. Montez has managed to clinch.
Montez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables West to keep the fight standing. Montez stops a takedown attempt from West.

Montez is trying to drag West to the mat but West just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Montez effectively controlling the action here. West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. West looks to score with a jab to the body but Montez is just out of range. Montez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Montez misses with a few strikes there.
Montez closes this distance looking for a takedown but West circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klay Montez. That's going to take a lot out of him. West throws a quick inside leg kick. Montez tries to clinch up. Montez shoots and misses and West counters with a right hand to the body. Montez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. West scores with a jab. Montez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. West moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. West fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. West lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by West. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. West throws a combination. Montez tries to block but a couple of punches get through. A jab lands there for West.
That's two minutes gone in the round. West shoots in and gets a takedown into Montez's guard. West with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. West throws a big right hand that misses. West throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. West scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Montez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. West is looking to work some ground and pound but Montez has wrist control. West lands a couple of decent looking shots. Montez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

West throws a big elbow that misses. West is fighting to break Montez's control of his arms but Montez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as West accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. We've been informed that West has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Montez wants to stand but West is controlling the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. West is looking to slow Montez down with leg kicks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montez drives through with a takedown into guard. West has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Montez with a flurry of punches that miss. West working a defensive guard here.

Andrew West dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Montez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Montez throws a half hearted mid kick. Montez moves forwards but West connects with a nice, crisp jab. Montez closes the distance and clinches up with West, looking for a takedown. Montez pushes West against the cage but West circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. West slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. West lands with an overhand left. Montez has West up against the cage in a clinch.
The referee calls for Montez to work.
West lands an elbow just above Montez 's eye. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. West is working for takedown but Montez is calmly controlling the position for now. West looking for a takedown. Montez displaying some good clinch control by pressing West up against the cage. Montez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. West throws out a loose jab but Montez uses good head movement to avoid it. West dives in and grabs Montez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Montez pushes down on West's head and hops out. Klay Montez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew West. Montez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by West. Nice uppercut there from West. Montez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Montez chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before West can pounce on him.

Montez eats them both and turns towards West to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. West fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Montez sprawls well initially but West persists and gets the takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Montez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. West missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Montez manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Montez scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Montez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Nice sprawl there from Montez as West shoots in. West throws out a powerful jab. West scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. West is looking to slow Montez down with leg kicks. West has been the more effective fighter overall so far. West bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Montez's head backwards. Montez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. West is breathing heavily. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Montez is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montez controlling the position easily from mount. West wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. West is keeping busy.
Montez missing with strikes. Montez is looking to control West but West is wriggling around and keeping busy. Montez is persistently looking for the submission but West is defending it well.
West tries to roll but Montez sticks to his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montez doesn't have the hooks in and West manages to turn into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Montez is on top in guard.
West is trying to hold Montez in close to prevent damage but Montez has managed to pass into half guard.
Montez moves into full mount! West won't be happy about that! Montez trying to control but he's not successful this time. West is just holding on here. Montez manages to take his back.

A close second round but Andrew West will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Montez shoots in for a double leg but West sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Montez takes a jab right on the kisser.
West lands a leg kick that knocks Montez off balance momentarily. West blocks a head kick by Montez.
West catches Montez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Montez clinches up with West and pushes him back against the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. West wants to get back to striking at distance but Montez won't allow it.
West is trying to force a seperation but Montez has the dominant position. West is trying to break the clinch but Montez is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. West being controlled against the cage. West wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Montez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Montez. West breaks from the clinch.
Montez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and West counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klay Montez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Montez wants to clinch up but West keeps it at a distance. West leaves Montez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. West with the counter takedown but Montez avoids it easily. A shot to the liver by West. Beautiful body shot. West throws a one two combo.
Montez walks into a stiff left hand from West. West fails with the takedown. West lands a lovely overhand right.
That's two minutes gone in the round. West looks to land a combination but Montez avoids it well. Montez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from West. A nice combination there by West.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! West takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. A slow jab from West misses its intended target. West throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Montez sees it coming and avoids it easily. West keeps the fight on the outside. West throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Montez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. West takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. West misses with the combination.
Montez slips a jab and a cross from West.
Montez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Montez tries to close the distance and clinch up but West swats him away and circles back towards the center. Klay Montez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Montez tries to clinch there but West circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. West tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Montez was well out of range. Poor timing from West. Montez rushes West and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. West gets underhooks to prevent Montez's takedown attempt.
West looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Montez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. West tries to avoid it but Montez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag West to the ground. West escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Montez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As West tries to get set, Montez tries to push him back and clinch up but West manages to avoid the attempt. Montez gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Montez looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Montez shoots in and bounces West off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Klay Montez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Montez forces his way into half guard.

Montez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, West has managed to free his arm - good work. West is looking for a sweep. Montez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Klay Montez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Andrew West is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Montez seems to be working for a kimura but West defends the submission attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Andrew West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got West winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Andrew West! After the fight, Andrew West was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
