Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trenton Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Randy Clapper!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clapper misses with a wild combination.
Smith lands a nice looking kick to the body. Clapper takes a step back to recover.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith tries to clinch but Clapper moves out of range.
A telegraphed right hand from Smith misses the target.
Smith throws a lazy head kick

and Clapper counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clapper slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clapper is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is looking to control Clapper's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?

Clapper wants to take a breather but Smith is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Clapper unleashes a big counter combination but Smith bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Clapper drives through with a takedown into Smith's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Clapper is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
Clapper must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Clapper is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Smith wants to stand and escape but Clapper is having none of it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A left and a right from Clapper both land. Nice combination.

Clapper avoids the head kick by Smith.
Clapper changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Clapper!
You can see the frustration on Clapper's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Clapper is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Smith is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Clapper bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Clapper passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Clapper has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Smith is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Smith tries to lock up and control but Clapper gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Clapper lands a big elbow.

Clapper has control of Smith's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Smith regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Clapper can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape.

Clapper looking to isolate an arm here. Smith doesn't see it coming and as Clapper extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Clapper!

After the fight, Randy Clapper was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
