Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masaru Shimabukuro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shimabukuro comes to the cage accompanied by Warrior. Nelson has chosen Don't Mean A Thing as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaru Shimabukuro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimabukuro throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. A looping hook to the body misses from Nelson. Shimabukuro does a little dance to reset his feet. Nelson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nelson misses with an uppercut. It looked like Shimabukuro was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nelson. A cross from Nelson lands. Nelson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Shimabukuro throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shimabukuro lands a nice looking body kick. Shimabukuro misses with a looping right. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Shimabukuro on the wrong end of a nice jab. Shimabukuro throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Nelson throws a nice looking combination but Shimabukuro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Shimabukuro half committed to a counter leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nelson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shimabukuro manages to avoid it. Shimabukuro throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Shimabukuro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Nelson. That did some damage! Nelson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Shimabukuro connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut. Shimabukuro ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Shimabukuro lands a leg kick that knocks Nelson off balance momentarily. Shimabukuro misses with a looping right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimabukuro throws a half hearted mid kick. Masaru Shimabukuro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nelson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Shimabukuro misses with a body shot.
Nelson throws a hook to the side of Shimabukuro's head but Shimabukuro sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nelson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shimabukuro moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Shimabukuro is looking to counter with a body kick. Shimabukuro ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Crunch! Shimabukuro slams his shin into Nelson's torso. Nelson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nelson looks winded! Shimabukuro scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Crunch! Shimabukuro slams his shin into Nelson's torso. Nelson misses with a double jab
and Shimabukuro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nelson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
This has been an exciting period of action! Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Nelson. Those never looked like landing. A solid body kick from Shimabukuro. Nelson blocks a jab. Nelson unleashes a big counter combination but Shimabukuro bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Shimabukuro connects with a solid leg kick. Nelson misses with a combination
and Shimabukuro counters with a series of strikes. Nelson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Crunch! Shimabukuro slams his shin into Nelson's torso. Masaru Shimabukuro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nelson shoots in and drives through. Shimabukuro sprawls well. Shimabukuro swinging wildly here.
Shimabukuro connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Nelson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Shimabukuro throws a front kick that sends Nelson stumbling back into the cage. Shimabukuro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Nelson. That did some damage! Shimabukuro goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Shimabukuro looks to land a body kick but Nelson moved away. Nelson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Shimabukuro is able to avoid easily. Shimabukuro looks to throw the jab but Nelson is out of range. Shimabukuro lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Nelson misses with an uppercut. Shimabukuro saw that one coming. Shimabukuro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looks like Shimabukuro has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Shimabukuro lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Nelson backs up against the cage.
Shimabukuro takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Shimabukuro.
Nelson looks to land a left hand but Shimabukuro moved out of range nicely. Shimabukuro scores with a head kick. Nelson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Nelson throws a right hand that Shimabukuro ducks under and follows up with a left that Shimabukuro also avoids with ease. Nelson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Nelson lands a nice looking body shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Shimabukuro. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nelson pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Shimabukuro uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nelson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Shimabukuro throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Nelson moves out of range of the body kick. Nelson throws a nice looking combination but Shimabukuro bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nelson moves out of range of the body kick from Shimabukuro.
Shimabukuro is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Nelson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Shimabukuro doesn't seem bothered though. Shimabukuro misses the shot to the body. Shimabukuro misses with a straight left. Nelson throws a right and a left that both miss. An inside leg kick lands from Shimabukuro. Shimabukuro connects with a solid leg kick. Shimabukuro looks to land a left hand but Nelson moved out of range nicely. Shimabukuro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nelson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Nelson cracks Shimabukuro with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Nelson's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Nelson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Shimabukuro moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Nelson drops his hands momentarily and Shimabukuro takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nelson looks to land a combination but Shimabukuro avoids it well. Nelson lands a glancing blow to the side of Shimabukuro's head. Masaru Shimabukuro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nelson misses with a double jab.
Shimabukuro feinted there with a counter leg kick. Nelson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Shimabukuro misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nelson ducks right into an uppercut from Shimabukuro. Shimabukuro throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nelson. A little jabbing left from Nelson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A slapping body kick lands there for Shimabukuro. Nelson slips a jab and a cross from Shimabukuro.
Nelson tries to counter by closing the distance. Shimabukuro lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nelson throws a body punch but Shimabukuro moves out of range. Nelson is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Shimabukuro. That one must have hurt. Nelson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Shimabukuro. An inside leg kick lands from Shimabukuro. Shimabukuro connects with a high kick. Shimabukuro dodges the punch combination from Nelson.
Shimabukuro throws a quick counter kick to the body but Nelson avoids it. Nelson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Nelson might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Shimabukuro has got the better of the exchanges. Donk. Shimabukuro catches Nelson right on the button with a cross. Shimabukuro fakes the leg kick and cracks Nelson in the body. Shimabukuro's jab looks to have found its range, popping Nelson under the eye. Shimabukuro throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Nelson's head.
Nelson is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nelson throws an overhand right that lands on Shimabukuro's shoulder, as Shimabukuro tries to avoid the shot. Nelson is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimabukuro finish him? Shimabukuro connects with a combination that backs up Nelson into the cage. Shimabukuro lands a flurry of punches that gets past Nelson's guard. Nelson is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Shimabukuro bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Masaru Shimabukuro! An out of breath Masaru Shimabukuro thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
