PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romero Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons comes to the cage accompanied by Lucki Eck$ - Drown. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simmons throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Simmons finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Simmons won't allow Gracie to get back to his feet.

Gracie is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Simmons presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simmons doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Gracie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Simmons defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gracie is nestled in close to Simmons, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gracie lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Simmons is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gracie content to control rather than advance.
Simmons is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gracie is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie has gone for a leg lock! Simmons slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gracie's guard.

Gracie manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Simmons prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gracie tries to score a body lock takedown but Simmons shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Simmons pulls guard effortlessly.
Gracie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Simmons's guard.
Gracie works his way into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Gracie connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gracie lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Gracie scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simmons tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control.

Gracie working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Simmons looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Gracie! Submission of the night perhaps?
