The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotton dodges the punch combination from Slim.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cotton. Slim does a little dance to reset his feet.
Slim fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cotton to the ground. Slim is now in Cotton's guard.
Cotton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Slim is stalling in the full guard.
Cotton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slim wants to control from the top but Cotton keeps moving.

Cotton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Slim is just riding it out for now. Cotton eventually gives up the hold.

Slim is stalling here. Cotton is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Slim seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cotton has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Slim tries to roll over but Cotton keeps him under control.
Cotton winds up and cracks Slim with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Cotton seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Cotton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slim defends it well.
Slim is trying to escape back to his feet but Cotton uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Cotton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cotton wants to stand but Slim has his arm trapped.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Slim is trying to improve his position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Slim shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cotton's guard.
Slim must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Slim loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Cotton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slim's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slim's back!
Cotton has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Slim! Can he survive? No! He's out! Cotton gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
