Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Simons III (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dog might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Beat It. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 49 - 34 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Simons III!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dog closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Simons III to the mat! Simons III manages to get full guard.
Dog trying to control but Simons III is working from the bottom.
Simons III not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Simons III is looking for a triangle but Dog pushes his legs off easily.

Dog avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Simons III is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simons III can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dog controls the pace.

Dog is keen to just control but Simons III is a slippery customer.
Dog thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Simons III's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dog is trying to work for a kimura but Simons III is defending well.
Simons III wants to control but Dog is keeping busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Crazy Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dog scores with a jab to the body.
Simons III tries for a takedown but Dog sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dog was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Dog shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simons III's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Simons III controls Dog momentarily but Dog frees himself.
Simons III lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dog is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dog seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Simons III does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Simons III is looking to improve his position.
Simons III makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Simons III.
Dog trying to control the position from guard on top but Simons III is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dog throws a strike but Simons III rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Simons III tries to free his leg and advance position but Dog is retaining full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dog manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Simons III manages to get himself to full guard.

Dog throws a series of punches but Simons III moves out of range.
A telegraphed right hand from Dog misses the target.
Simons III feints the counter takedown.
Simons III tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dog sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Simons III somewhat.

Simons III fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dog to the ground. Simons III is now in Dog's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dog bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simons III's guard.

Crazy Dog overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Simons III looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Dog puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Simons III wants to get back to full guard.
Dog is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Simons III can do to turn this around?

Dog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dog is looking for a kimura but Simons III is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dog to get the leverage.
Simons III is staying active underneath Dog, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dog prevents Simons III from improving his position.

Dog is working for a submission of some sort.
Simons III trying to hold on to Dog's head to control him but Dog postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Simons III makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Simons III.

Simons III escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dog gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Simons III can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dog controls the pace.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dog won't allow Simons III to sweep him here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Dog closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Simons III's guard.

Simons III looking for a triangle here. Dog is fighting it but it looks tight! Simons III pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Dog is tapping out - this one is all over!
