PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Knockyo Assout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashed Evens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assout comes to the cage accompanied by Mamma Said Knock You Out. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Knockyo Assout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rashed Evens!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assout lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Evens backs up against the cage.
Assout lands with a nice combination. Evens backs away looking to recover.
Assout tries to bum rush Evens with a series of wild strikes but Evens uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Evens gets a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Evens thows a huge punch but Assout dodges it nicely.
Evens prevents Assout from standing back up.
Evens missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Assout is trying to stand back up but Evens is controlling him
Evens trying to pass the guard but Assout defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evens throwing shots but Assout is blocking nicely.
Evens thows a huge punch but Assout dodges it nicely.
Assout wants to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Assout throws a combination. Evens tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Assout.
Evens looks gassed!
Evens tries for a takedown but Assout sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Evens crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Assout - the referee stops the clock and Evens gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Assout. Evens manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Assout throws a front kick that sends Evens stumbling back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Evens on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Assout. Assout obviously looking to wear him down.
Assout throws a series of strikes that have Evens backpedaling.
Assout scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Assout throws a series of punches but Evens avoids them all with ease.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Assout.
Assout scores with a three punch combo!


Evens is rocked!
Some wild striking there from Assout.
Evens is still on wobbly legs! Can Assout finish him?
Assout will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Evens seems to have recovered his senses.
Evens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Evens shoots in but Assout avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Assout throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Evens is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Assout.
Evens shoots in but no luck this time.
Knockyo Assout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rashed Evens.
Assout lands with a shot to the body.
Nice jab there from Assout.
Assout is working the combinations to good effect here.
Evens shoots in but Assout avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Assout throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Assout gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Assout working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Evens.
Assout not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Evens stands and steps away. Assout gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Assout throws a right and a left that both miss.
Assout connects with a solid leg kick.

Evens fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Assout sprawls well initially but Evens persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Evens not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Evens is working for a kimura but Assout is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Assout is trying to maintain the position but Evens is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Assout is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knockyo Assout dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Assout goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Assout stuffs the takedown attempt from Evens. Evens gets slowly back to his feet.
Assout throws a series of punches but Evens avoids them all with ease.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Assout!
Assout lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Assout.
Assout throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Donk. Assout catches Evens right on the button with a cross.
Evens should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Evens scores a takedown into full mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Assout tries to hold on but Evens postures up.
Assout is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Evens thowing shots but they're missing.
Evens punching from mount but Assout doing a good job of avoiding damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Assout wants to hold on but Evens pushes him away.
Evens looking to finish with strikes here!
Assout is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Evens throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Assout is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Assout wants to hold on but Evens pushes him away.
You get the feeling that Assout really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Evens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Evens thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Assout tries to lock up and control but Evens gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Assout can't escape the position.
Evens avoids the attempt from Assout to control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evens punching from mount but Assout doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Evens throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Evens looking to ground and pound but Assout is blocking nicely.
Evens misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Evens with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knockyo Assout dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Assout throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Evens.
Evens drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Assout misses with a double jab.
Evens shoots in looking for a takedown. Assout tries to sprawl out of it but Evens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Assout manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A slapping leg kick lands for Assout.
Assout lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Evens backs up against the cage.
Assout is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Rashed Evens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Assout fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Assout lands a jab-cross combination.

Evens looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Assout is trying to get back to full guard.

Evens missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Evens throws a strike but Assout avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Assout throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Evens postures up in Assout's guard and throws a big left but Assout blocks it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evens working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Assout's head.
Assout wants to get back to his feet but Evens is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Evens preventing the sweep.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The crowd cheers as Assout lands an impressive looking overhand right. Evens doesn't seem phased though.
Evens fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Knockyo Assout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rashed Evens.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Assout lands with a nice body punch.
Assout rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Evens moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Assout connects with a single shot there.
Nice takedown defense from Assout. No joy for Evens on that attempt.

Evens shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Assout punching from the bottom.
Rashed Evens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Evens not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Evens is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Assout wants to get back to his feet.

Evens looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that's the end of the fight!
Knockyo Assout showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Assout, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
