PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn comes into the arena with The Blood of Cuchulainn blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leo Harvey!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Quinn.
Harvey moves out of range as Quinn strikes.
Quinn thows a body shot but no joy.
Quinn throws a right and a left that both miss.
Quinn misses with an uppercut. Harvey saw that one coming.
Quinn throws a series of punches but Harvey moves out of range.
Harvey slips a jab and a cross from Quinn.

Quinn throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harvey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Quinn as he jumps to the side.
A telegraphed right hand from Quinn misses the target.

Quinn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

It looks like Leo Harvey has been cut.
Harvey is looking to reverse the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Harvey counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Quinn!

Harvey is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Quinn sees it coming and defends easily.
Quinn is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Quinn missing with a left hand there. Harvey was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Quinn throws a combination that misses
and Harvey counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Quinn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Harvey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Quinn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Harvey counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Harvey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Quinn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harvey on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Quinn keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Harvey is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Quinn controlling the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harvey drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quinn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harvey has Quinn in his guard.

Harvey isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Quinn stacks Harvey on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Quinn!

Harvey lands with a nice combination. Quinn backs away looking to recover.
Quinn throws a right hand that Harvey ducks under and follows up with a left that Harvey also avoids with ease.
Harvey tries for a takedown but Quinn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pete Quinn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Quinn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pete Quinn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quinn scores with a crisp jab that stopped Harvey in his tracks.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pete Quinn will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Harvey is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Quinn.

Harvey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Quinn counters with a stiff right hand.
Quinn throws a one two combo.

Harvey scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Quinn is holding on to half guard well.
Quinn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Harvey is looking for a kimura but Quinn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harvey to get the leverage.

Harvey is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Quinn has managed to free his arm - good work.

Quinn gets back to full guard.

Harvey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Quinn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Harvey, into his guard.

Quinn gets to his feet. Harvey looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Harvey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Quinn's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harvey drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quinn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harvey has Quinn in his guard.

Harvey had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Quinn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Harvey Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Quinn's back instead.

Quinn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Harvey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quinn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Harvey has his foot on Quinn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quinn works his way back into a safe position though.

Pete Quinn showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Quinn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
