Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filip Mirkovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Pappas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Connor Pappas enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Filip Mirkovic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Connor Pappas! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Illya Tyunina and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mirkovic shoots in and drives through. Pappas sprawls well. Mirkovic darts in trying to clinch and Pappas counters with a shoot takedown. Mirkovic fights it but they end up in guard. Pappas landing some decent shots from guard. Mirkovic is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pappas is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pappas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Mirkovic keeping full guard, as Pappas tries to pass. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pappas is looking to work some ground and pound but Mirkovic has wrist control. Pappas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pappas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mirkovic works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pappas told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Pappas throws a big right hand that misses. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Mirkovic throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Pappas feints the counter takedown. Mirkovic fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mirkovic tries to work over Pappas's front leg with a kick but Pappas checks it. Mirkovic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pappas swivels and escapes. Mirkovic dives in and grabs Pappas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pappas pushes down on Mirkovic's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Filip Mirkovic. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mirkovic stuffs the takedown. Mirkovic lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pappas circles away quickly and effectively. Mirkovic looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Mirkovic darts in trying to clinch and Pappas counters with a takedown into side control. Mirkovic is breathing heavily. Pappas tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pappas is putting a hurting on Mirkovic here, landing some big shots from side control. Pappas working the strikes but Mirkovic uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Mirkovic is looking to escape. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pappas working the head and body with strikes. Mirkovic tries to kick Pappas off but Pappas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Pappas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Pappas throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mirkovic to regain full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Horrible takedown attempt by Mirkovic or perhaps it was just good defense by Pappas, which made it look bad. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pappas is defended easily by Mirkovic. Pappas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Pappas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pappas instigates a clinch. Pappas has Mirkovic pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mirkovic manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Pappas is trying to drag Mirkovic to the mat but Mirkovic just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Mirkovic wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Filip Mirkovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Connor Pappas. Mirkovic tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pappas connects with a nice short shot to Mirkovic's temple. Pappas throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Mirkovic makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Mirkovic misses with a few strikes there.

and Pappas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pappas. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pappas is working Mirkovic over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pappas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pappas throws a big elbow that misses. Pappas postures up and lands a big shot to Mirkovic's brow. This has been an exciting period of action! Filip Mirkovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pappas goes for a double leg but Mirkovic avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mirkovic continues to drive forward. Mirkovic swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pappas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pappas. Mirkovic is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pappas lands a couple of elbows. He's working for the Kimura, can Mirkovic defend it? Pappas steps over the head and cranks it - Mirkovic is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Pappas!
