The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Rodriguez coming out on top.
Rodriguez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hopkins throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rodriguez.
Hopkins misses with an uppercut
and Rodriguez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hopkins throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rodriguez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hopkins finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Rodriguez looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Hopkins uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rodriguez.
Hopkins changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Hopkins ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Rodriguez blocks a leg kick.
Rodriguez scores with a jab. Hopkins acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Rodriguez is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Rodriguez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hopkins.
Hopkins swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hopkins misses with a looping right.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rodriguez, as that shot connected.
Nice uppercut lands for Rodriguez. That snapped Hopkins's head back.

Rodriguez pushes Hopkins up against the cage in a clinch.
Hopkins is still on wobbly legs! Can Rodriguez finish him?
Rodriguez scores with a shoulder strike.
Rodriguez pushes Hopkins against the cage. Rodriguez is working some dirty boxing. Rodriguez pushes off with a quick right hook! Hopkins goes down! Hopkins tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Rodriguez moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Rodriguez!
During a confident post fight interview, Carlos Rodriguez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
