Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hans Yamato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kanwar Singh! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Singh swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Yamato changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Yamato uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Singh.
A lazy left from Singh finds it's target. Yamato takes one to the chin there. Yamato has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Hut - $50 in the buildup to the fight. Yamato takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Yamato tries for a takedown but Singh circles away easily and Singh counters with a lovely straight right hand! Yamato is trying hard to land a takedown here. Singh sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Singh is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Yamato doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Yamato is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Singh. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Singh stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Singh looks to score with a jab to the body but Yamato is just out of range. Yamato scores with a takedown into Singh's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamato is stalling in the full guard. Yamato trying to control the position from guard on top but Singh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yamato throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Singh works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Yamato is looking to work some ground and pound but Singh has wrist control. Singh preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Yamato is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Yamato is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Singh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamato. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Yamato throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yamato content to control rather than advance. Yamato is looking for a kimura but Singh is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Yamato to get the leverage. Yamato keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Yamato has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Singh defend it? Yamato steps over the head and cranks it - Singh is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Yamato!
