Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Song! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chopper Reid! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reid throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Song shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Song trying to control but Reid is having none of it. Reid trying desperately to get to his feet.
Song jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Reid is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Reid and Song has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Reid is not content to let Song control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Song wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Reid, who protects the arm well. Song trying to control the action but Reid is working from the bottom. Song prevents Reid from escaping the position. Song is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reid has escaped the position, nice work there. Reid is trying to buck Song off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Song tries to move to mount but Reid blocks the move with his legs. Reid is trying to get back to his feet. Song thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Reid is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Song passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Reid!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Song is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Song!
