PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dack Fayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joe Spencer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dack Fayden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Spencer!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fayden throws a jab when Spencer was well out of range.
Spencer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fayden was well out of range. Poor timing from Spencer.
Spencer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Fayden wants to clinch
and Spencer counters with a one-two to the body.
Spencer sizes up Fayden with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fayden slips a jab from Spencer.
Fayden throwing a counter right hand but Spencer manages to avoid it.
Fayden throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Spencer appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Fayden throws a hook but Spencer blocks it.
Fayden walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fayden has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fayden manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Spencer on his heels. He'll look to pass Spencer's guard now, I'm sure.

Spencer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Spencer cracks Fayden with a solid left hand.

Spencer is looking to pass into half guard but Fayden pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Fayden is in guard.

Fayden tries to free his leg and advance position but Spencer is retaining full guard.
Fayden stays in close to Spencer's body and controls the position.

Fayden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spencer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Spencer wants to sweep but no luck.

Fayden postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Spencer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fayden, into his guard.

Spencer is looking to work some ground and pound but Fayden has wrist control.
Fayden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Spencer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fayden is trying to keep Spencer in close.
Fayden keeping moving, preventing Spencer from controlling successfully.
Fayden controls Spencer momentarily but Spencer frees himself.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fayden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spencer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spencer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fayden wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fayden misses with a body shot.
Fayden gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Spencer thuds a left hand into Fayden's body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Spencer digs a good body shot into Fayden's ribs.
Fayden throws a looping overhand right but Spencer ducks down to avoid it.
Spencer connects with a right hand. Fayden shakes it off.
Fayden avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Spencer dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Fayden takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fayden connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Fayden fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fayden shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Spencer counters with a nice uppercut.
No luck for Fayden with that takedown attempt.
Fayden throws a shot from downtown. Spencer moves away and avoids it.

A solid leg kick lands there for Spencer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spencer tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Spencer misses with an uppercut.

Fayden throws out a loose jab but Spencer uses good head movement to avoid it.
Spencer now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Spencer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fayden circles away quickly and effectively.

Fayden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spencer tries to avoid it but Fayden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spencer to the ground. Spencer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dack Fayden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fayden swings for the body but Spencer moves out of range.
Fayden gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Spencer connects with the punch.
Fayden ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spencer moves away.
Spencer throws a hook but Fayden avoids it easily.
Fayden throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fayden takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Spencer. Fayden does a little dance to reset his feet.

Fayden is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Spencer.
Spencer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Fayden tries to score a power double leg takedown but Spencer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fayden somewhat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fayden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Spencer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Spencer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fayden doesn't seem bothered though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spencer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Fayden wants to land a leg kick but Spencer is out of range.
Spencer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Spencer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Fayden momentarily.
Spencer throws a nice looking combination but Fayden bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Spencer scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Fayden counters with a right hand to the body.
Spencer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fayden is looking to counter the offense by Spencer and move into the clinch.
Fayden misses with a combination
and Spencer counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Fayden cracks Spencer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Sloppy strikes from Spencer. Those never looked like landing.
Fayden shoots in for a takedown but Spencer shows good takedown defense.
Fayden fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Spencer manages to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fayden tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Spencer defends well and Fayden ends up having to push Spencer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Well,Fayden is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?
Fayden moves forwards but Spencer connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Fayden throws a hook to the side of Spencer's head but Spencer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Oh Fayden is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fayden seems to have got his legs back now.

Fayden throws a right hand that Spencer ducks under and follows up with a left that Spencer also avoids with ease.
Spencer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Fayden shoots in looking for a takedown. Spencer tries to sprawl out of it but Fayden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spencer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fayden looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Fayden throws a right and a left that Spencer avoids nicely.

I've got Spencer winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
