Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amun Ra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
41 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gordon Lefleaur! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Lefleaur digs a right hand underneath Ra's ribcage. Ra let out a lung full of air as it connected. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ra. Ra wants a takedown.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Ra. Lefleaur is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ra tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Lefleaur wants to get back to striking at distance but Ra won't allow it.
Ra changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lefleaur fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lefleaur throws a front kick that sends Ra stumbling back into the cage. Lefleaur throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ra takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lefleaur throws a jab when Ra was well out of range. Lefleaur lands a nice looking body shot.
Lefleaur attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Ra is looking to clinch but Lefleaur is avoiding it.
Lefleaur throws a low kick but Ra avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lefleaur lands a really nice looking cross but Ra seems unphased.
Ra looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Ra keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Ra was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Lefleaur has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Ra wants to clinch and Lefleaur counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A slow jab from Lefleaur misses its intended target. Ra feinted with a counter takedown. Nice body kick from Lefleaur. Lefleaur moves out of range of the strikes. Lefleaur misses with a hook. Ra ducked under it nicely. Gordon Lefleaur is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ra shoots in for a double leg but Lefleaur sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Amun Ra. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lefleaur misses with a wild body shot. Ra takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ra fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lefleaur throws a nice outside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lefleaur connects with a solid leg kick. Ra tries to close the distance and clinch but Lefleaur swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lefleaur swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Ra shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lefleaur's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ra trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lefleaur utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lefleaur working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ra. Lefleaur is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lefleaur has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Ra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ra won't allow Lefleaur to sweep him here. Lefleaur has his hands on Ra's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lefleaur wants to get back to his feet but Ra is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ra sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lefleaur wants to land a leg kick but Ra is out of range. Lefleaur misses with a low kick.
Lefleaur walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
It looks like Gordon Lefleaur has been cut. Ra tries to close the distance and clinch but Lefleaur swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lefleaur throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lefleaur misses with an uppercut. Ra saw that one coming. Lefleaur bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Ra with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lefleaur to score with a decent uppercut. Ra tries to clinch up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lefleaur tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ra was well out of range. Poor timing from Lefleaur. A chopping leg kick lands by Lefleaur. Gordon Lefleaur seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ra misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A good leg kick by Lefleaur. Ra closes the distance but Lefleaur moves to the side and Lefleaur counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Lefleaur lands with a thumping leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ra avoids the body shot from Lefleaur.
Lefleaur connects with an inside leg kick. Ra drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Ra digs a good hook to Lefleaur's body.
Ra throws a lazy uppercut
and Ra takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ra steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lefleaur. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gordon Lefleaur dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gordon Lefleaur's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ra throws out a loose jab but Lefleaur uses good head movement to avoid it. Lefleaur misses with a low kick. Ra shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lefleaur sprawls well. Lefleaur wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ra gets slowly back to his feet. Ra misses with a takedown and Lefleaur counters with a lovely shot to the body. Lefleaur cracks Ra with a right hand to the side of the head.
Ra is rocked! Lefleaur scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Oh Ra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lefleaur. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Lefleaur lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Lefleaur works Ra's body with a nice hook. A solid leg kick lands there for Lefleaur.
Ra glances at the clock... BAM! Lefleaur nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Ra crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Ra is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gordon Lefleaur! Gordon Lefleaur very nearly forgot to thank Arcticus University: London amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you. Amun Ra was interviewed post fight and said 'Cunt Le y u do dis :('.
