PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juilius Caesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Leidner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen Leidner told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juilius Caesar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owen Leidner! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Caesar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Leidner sprawls well initially but Caesar persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Caesar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leidner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Caesar. Caesar tries to stand but can't do so whilst Leidner controls his leg. Leidner is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Caesar prevents Leidner from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Caesar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Caesar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Leidner won't allow Caesar to pass to mount. Leidner tries to roll over but Caesar keeps him under control. Leidner looks winded! Leidner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Caesar trying to control the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leidner is in trouble now - Caesar has advanced to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Caesar quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Caesar but it's paid off an Leidner is forced to tap! Nice work by Caesar.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Juilius Caesar! Our winner, Juilius Caesar, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
