Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Caliman Matos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brazilian Army (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Caliman Matos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brazilian Army! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matos shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Army napping and manages to drive through into side control! Army sneaks out the side door and pushes Matos away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Matos avoids a punch combination nicely.
Matos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No joy there for Army, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Army wants to clinch and Matos counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Matos staying out of range there. Matos dives in and grabs Army's left leg, looking for a takedown. Army pushes down on Matos's head and hops out. Army throws a left and a right that both miss
and Matos counters by clinching up. Matos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Army gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Army gets underhooks to prevent Matos's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caliman Matos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Army lands a hook that snaps the head of Matos backwards. Matos tries for a takedown. No joy.
Matos has Army pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Army manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matos drops down looking for an ankle pick but Army pulls his leg out and moves away.
A big left from Army misses. Matos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matos looking to pass the guard. Army is controlling Matos's posture. Matos wants to pass the guard but Army is keeping the position. Army wants to stand up but Matos is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Army works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Matos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Matos is working hard here to advance position. Matos looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matos content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Matos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Army is keeping the position for now. Army has control of Matos's left arm, preventing Matos from doing any damage. Army looking for a sweep. Not yet Army, not yet. Matos advances to half guard. Army tries to roll over but Matos keeps him under control. Matos is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Army has managed to free his arm - good work. Matos passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matos working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Army looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Matos! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Caliman Matos! A very excited looking Caliman Matos rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. Brazilian Army was interviewed post fight and said 'Thank's Sponsors'.
