Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cristoff Melkovick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeshi Tono!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tono moves out of range as Melkovick strikes.
Tono pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tono uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Melkovick.
Melkovick tries to clinch there but Tono circles away.

Tono throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Melkovick tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tono is in Melkovick's guard.
Tono is pushing down on Melkovick's leg trying to pass to half guard. Melkovick is fighting to maintain full guard but Tono has managed to sneak the leg through.

Melkovick looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Melkovick tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Tono wants to control but Melkovick is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ground and pound from Tono.
Melkovick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tono on the ground.
Melkovick tries to roll over but Tono keeps him under control.

Tono is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Melkovick sees it coming and defends easily.

Tono seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tono scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Tono not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Melkovick looking for submissions off his back.
Melkovick throws a strike from the bottom but Tono passes into side control!
Tono lands some shots froms side control.
Tono trying to control the action but Melkovick is working from the bottom.
Melkovick is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tono connects with a decent elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Melkovick tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Tono working the ground and pound from side control.
Melkovick is trying to get back to half guard.
Tono lands a nice forearm strike.
Tono working away.
Tono takes a little break here. Melkovick wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Tono cracks Melkovick with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Melkovick is trying to control Tono's posture but Tono avoids it.
Tono is putting a hurting on Melkovick here, landing some big shots from side control.

Tono lands some shots froms side control.
Tono advances to full mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tono cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Melkovick taking shots to the head.
A nice elbow there by Tono.
Melkovick is looking to improve his position but Tono isn't that keen on the idea.
Tono has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tono scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Tono pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
A nice elbow there by Tono.


Melkovick is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tono with the ground and pound from mount.
Oh Melkovick is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
BOOM! Tono connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tono looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Melkovick covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takeshi Tono!
