Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Paddy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph The Father! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paddy connects with a crisp jab. The Father tries to clinch up but Paddy circles away and keeps his distance. The Father fails miserably with a takedown attempt. It looked like Paddy wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. The Father scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. The Father doesn't succeed with the takedown and Paddy counters with a two punch combo. Mike Paddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Paddy throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. The Father fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Paddy avoids it really well and circles away. Mike Paddy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph The Father. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paddy scores with a nice body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Paddy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by The Father. The Father has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA London. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. The Father throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The Father is chipping away with strikes.
Paddy is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paddy is trying to improve his position. The Father is looking to take a break and control but Paddy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Father decides to stand back up. The Father steps back and let's Paddy get back to his feet. The Father drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Paddy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The Father stands and steps away. Paddy gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The Father connects with a solid leg kick. The Father dives in and grabs Paddy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Paddy pushes down on The Father's head and hops out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paddy fails with a takedown attempt. Paddy is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The Father moves out of range as Paddy throws a body kick.
Paddy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Paddy throws a half hearted mid kick. The Father with the counter takedown but Paddy avoids it easily. The Father changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paddy tries to avoid it but The Father manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paddy to the ground. Paddy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Paddy works the jab nicely. The Father tries to clinch there but Paddy circles away.
The Father rushes Paddy and presses him up against the cage. The Father trying to land knees to the body.
The Father is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Paddy is defending well for now. The Father drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Father is trying to break the clinch but Paddy is controlling him. Paddy fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Paddy tries to break free but The Father pushes him back against the cage. Paddy is trying to maintain a safe position but The Father gets an underhook and turns Paddy into the cage. The Father blocking some punches.
A nice glancing elbow lands by The Father. The Father fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The Father manages to break the clinch.
Paddy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Joseph The Father will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Paddy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but The Father moves away. A little jabbing left from The Father on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. The Father closes the distance and clinches up with Paddy, looking for a takedown. The Father pushes Paddy against the cage but Paddy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Paddy stalks The Father and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into The Father's face. The Father staggers backwards, shaken. Paddy lands with a kick to the ribs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The Father tries to clinch but Paddy moves away and Paddy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Paddy lands a two punch combo.
Mike Paddy is winning the standup battle so far. The Father displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Paddy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paddy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paddy wants it to stay on the feet. The Father fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Paddy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. The Father doesn't manage to clinch there - Paddy circles away.

Paddy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Paddy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The Father moves out of range of the body kick from Paddy.
Paddy throws a combination that misses and The Father counters by clinching up.

A nice combination there by Paddy.
