PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Merkan Killmaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Killmaz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black Blade. Kong has chosen Shepherd of Fire as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that King Kong was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong moves out of range as Killmaz strikes.
Killmaz throws a nice outside leg kick.
Killmaz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

It looks like King Kong has been cut.

Kong moves into the clinch successfully.
Killmaz tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kong takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Killmaz throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Killmaz can't break the clinch.
Killmaz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Killmaz fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Killmaz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Killmaz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kong gets to his feet. Killmaz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A looping hook to the body misses from Killmaz. Kong does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kong tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Killmaz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Killmaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Kong is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kong pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Killmaz back to the cage. Kong follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Killmaz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kong drops his hands momentarily and Killmaz takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Killmaz walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kong checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Killmaz circles away quickly and effectively.

Killmaz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

No joy there for Kong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kong throws a big shot that misses.
Kong fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Killmaz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Killmaz sets himself, and Kong steps forward looking for the clinch! Killmaz avoids it this time.
Kong has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Killmaz.
Kong works over Killmaz's head and body with a nice combination.
A big right from Killmaz misses.
Killmaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kong doesn't seem bothered though.

Killmaz looks to land a right hand but Kong moved out of range.
Kong shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Killmaz eats them both and turns towards Kong to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Killmaz fakes the leg kick and cracks Kong in the body.
Killmaz misses with a kick to the body.
Kong sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kong looks winded!
Kong ducks right into an uppercut from Killmaz.
Kong lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kong throws a right and a left that Killmaz avoids nicely.
Kong moves out of range as Killmaz throws a body kick.
Kong takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kong gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kong throws a front kick aimed at Killmaz's knee but Killmaz avoids it well.
Kong dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Killmaz throws a hook to the side of Kong's head but Kong sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Killmaz moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Good leg kick by Killmaz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Killmaz counters with a good low kick that Kong was not able to check.

Killmaz lands a big head kick that sends Kong tumbling to the mat! Killmaz takes a step backwards and waves Kong back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Killmaz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merkan Killmaz dominated that round.
The cut man is working on King Kong's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kong avoids the head kick by Killmaz.
A little jabbing left from Kong on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kong is still on wobbly legs! Can Killmaz finish him?
Killmaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Merkan Killmaz is winning the standup battle so far.
Kong moves out of range as Killmaz strikes.
Kong seems to have recovered his senses.
Kong lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

It looks like Merkan Killmaz has been cut.
Kong misses the shot to the body.
Killmaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kong.
Killmaz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

That has opened up King Kong's cut even more.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Kong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Killmaz pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

King Kong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Killmaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kong can do to turn this around?
Kong wants to break free but Killmaz has control.
Kong's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Killmaz lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Kong breaks from the clinch.
Killmaz throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Killmaz.
Killmaz misses with a looping left.

Killmaz sends Kong crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Killmaz is motioning to the referee to let Kong up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

The cut above King Kong's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Kong drops his hands momentarily. Killmaz doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Kong staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Kong doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Merkan Killmaz!
