Newton has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

and Newton makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Newton stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Newton drops McGuiness with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but McGuiness looks back up at him and smiles so Newton waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Oh McGuiness is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Newton lands a big right hand that sends McGuiness crashing to the mat! Newton stays standing though and waves McGuiness back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
That kick from Newton tenderised McGuiness's leg. McGuiness is trying to keep his angry face on.
McGuiness takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
McGuiness throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Newton's jaw, knocking him onto his back! McGuiness dives in looking to finish as Newton flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block McGuiness's strikes! McGuiness is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Newton's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Newton was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liam McGuiness!

Liam McGuiness spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
