PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Filippus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Filippus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Snow!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snow dives in and scores a takedown into Filippus's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Filippus is on top in guard.

Snow pulls Filippus in close to prevent any damage.
Filippus passes Snow's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Filippus uses his free foot to push down on Snow's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Snow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snow tries to hold on but Filippus postures up.
Snow is desperately trying to improve his position but Filippus has a good base and remains in mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snow avoids a series of strikes thrown by Filippus.
Filippus unloads with some shots from mount but Snow bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snow is desperately trying to improve his position but Filippus has a good base and remains in mount.
Snow tries to hold on but Filippus pushes him away.
Filippus is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Snow can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Snow takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Filippus has hold of Snow's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Snow manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Snow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Filippus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Snow is desperately trying to improve his position but Filippus has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Filippus lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Snow is trying to escape the mount.
Snow wants to control but Filippus is having none of it.

Snow is looking to get to half guard.

Filippus prevents Snow from getting the reversal.

Snow reaches up to try and control the position but Filippus seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Snow rolls and tries to escape and now Filippus has his back!

Filippus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Filippus tries to get the hooks in deep but Snow pushed the leg off.
Filippus gets his hands free as Snow looks to control.
Filippus tries to keep control of the position but Snow is staying busy.

Filippus is looking to control Snow but Snow is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Snow tries to roll but Filippus sticks to his back.
Filippus gets his hands free as Snow looks to control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Filippus has the hooks in. Snow is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Filippus dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Snow dives in and grabs Filippus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Filippus pushes down on Snow's head and hops out.
Bob Snow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Filippus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Filippus scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Filippus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Snow shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Snow looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Snow is looking to take a break and control but Filippus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Filippus gets back to full guard.
Filippus looking for a sweep. Not yet Filippus, not yet.
Snow tries to free his leg and advance position but Filippus is retaining full guard.
Snow is working Filippus over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Snow prevents Filippus from getting back to his feet.
Snow is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Snow is posturing up here but Filippus has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Snow tries to roll out but it's too tight and Snow has to tap! Slick submission there by Filippus!
