3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Holdsworth! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kandinsky closes the distance and pushes Holdsworth back into the cage. Holdsworth tries to work over Kandinsky's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Holdsworth looking for a takedown. Holdsworth can't break the clinch.
Holdsworth is trying to break free. Holdsworth is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kandinsky is defending well. Kandinsky keeping full guard, as Holdsworth tries to pass. Holdsworth trying to control the position from guard on top but Kandinsky is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Holdsworth loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kandinsky has a closed guard, preventing Holdsworth from standing up. Kandinsky is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kandinsky gets a clinch. Holdsworth breaks the clinch.
Kandinsky connects with a good right hand that stumbles Holdsworth. Holdsworth circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Kandinsky closes the distance and pushes Holdsworth back into the cage. Kandinsky is working Holdsworth over against the cage. Holdsworth looking to throw knees to the head but Kandinsky is blocking nicely.

A frustrated look appears on Holdsworth's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kandinsky has Holdsworth pressed against the cage, preventing Holdsworth from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Holdsworth has had enough of the clinch but Kandinsky keeps him there for the moment. Holdsworth escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kandinsky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Holdsworth swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kandinsky moves in looking to clinch but Holdsworth pushes him off. Kandinsky has managed to clinch.
Holdsworth breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Holdsworth keeps the fight on the outside. Kandinsky feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Holdsworth tries to land a sweep but no joy. Holdsworth has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kandinsky has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holdsworth is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kandinsky is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kandinsky has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Holdsworth's body.

Holdsworth wants to stand up but Kandinsky is controlling him. Kandinsky is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kandinsky tries to free his leg and advance position but Holdsworth is retaining full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Holdsworth controls Kandinsky momentarily but Kandinsky frees himself. Kandinsky passes Holdsworth's right leg, so he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Holdsworth wants to improve his position but Kandinsky is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Holdsworth has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kandinsky is on him like a limpet, forcing Holdsworth back against the cage. Holdsworth is working Kandinsky over against the cage. Kandinsky works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Holdsworth looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Pietr Kandinsky is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kandinsky tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kandinsky breaks from the clinch.
Kandinsky is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Holdsworth lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Kandinsky is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Holdsworth can do to turn this around? Holdsworth avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pietr Kandinsky. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kandinsky, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
