PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martin Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Klandtman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Martin Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jens Klandtman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Ellis.
Klandtman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Ellis blocks the body kick.
Klandtman is looking to chop away at Ellis's legs.
Ellis jabs Klandtman to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ellis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Klandtman has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ellis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Klandtman sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ellis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Klandtman on the side of the head.
Ellis looks to land a left hand but Klandtman moved out of range nicely.
Ellis throws a nice head kick!


It looks like Jens Klandtman has been cut.
Klandtman fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ellis with a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ellis lands a leg kick that knocks Klandtman off balance momentarily.
Klandtman dives in and grabs Ellis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ellis pushes down on Klandtman's head and hops out.
Ellis throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Klandtman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Klandtman has managed to clinch.
Ellis misses with a hook from the clinch.
Ellis misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Klandtman.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ellis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Klandtman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ellis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Martin Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jens Klandtman.
Ellis wants to get back to striking at distance but Klandtman won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Ellis misses with a knee strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ellis is pressed up against the cage. Klandtman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ellis down to the mat. Ellis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Klandtman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ellis, pushing him back against the cage.
Ellis throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Klandtman blocks it with crossed arms.

Ellis breaks from the clinch.
Ellis misses with a straight left.
Ellis throws a front kick that sends Klandtman stumbling back into the cage.
Ellis lands a nice leg kick that just misses Klandtman's sensitive parts.
Klandtman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Good exchange - Ellis coming out on top.
Ellis scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Klandtman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Ellis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Klandtman circles away quickly and effectively.
Martin Ellis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ellis connects with an inside leg kick.

Klandtman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ellis looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Ellis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Klandtman passes Ellis's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Klandtman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Klandtman stops Ellis from getting back to his feet.
Klandtman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ellis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ellis is looking to get back to is feet but Klandtman passes into side control.
Ellis is trying to get back to his feet.
Ellis tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Klandtman trying to control the position but Ellis is working away.
Klandtman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ellis haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Klandtman has an Americana. Ellis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Klandtman is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Klandtman hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jens Klandtman!
